YIP YOPS Bring Their Hot July Echo Residency To A Cool End

The notoriously hot month of July came to a close as the Los Angeles quartet YIP YOPS played the final show of their monthlong residency at the Echo in the dark cool of the Echoplex and it felt appropriate. While Ison (vox/guitar), Ross (drums), Jacob (bass), and Mari (keys) may be new kids on the musical block, their embrace of things new wave, post-punk and glammy dance makes the typically heavy feel ridiculously hip. A fact reflected by the break out dance party during their set closer, “This Is How It Ends” and their growing fans which includes a bevy of LA’s fellow on the rise artists including staunch supporter, Lauren Ruth Ward.

The evening was pretty fiercely supported by noise rockers Facial, the punk acrobatic contortions of Kim and the Created and bi-continental Georgi Kay – freshly returned from Australia and jetting right back again.
