Music On, World Off: Mirai Nagasu aka Triple Axel, Bitches

So what happens when you’re the first U.S. female figure skater (and only the third woman EVER) to execute and stick the devilishly difficult forward edge jump-thing called a triple axel on Olympic ice?

You get a Music On, World Off Spotify playlist dedicated to you, of course! Thirteen new songs by a select bunch of artists released into the wild just waiting to be adored the same way that we all adore Mirai Nagasu and her ability to spin really fast in mid-air.

This week’s sound selections come in the form of an instant grat song from that badass we know as Dorothy: “Who Do You Love” comes from her sophomore album 28 Days In The Valley (due out March 16th). “The Weight Is Gone” comes courtesy via the off-kilter sexiness of Sweden’s Albin Lee Meldau, Canada’s Bombargo finds themselves in awe that Taylor Swift digs the smooth charm of their song “Mr. No Good” (no, really, she does) and – yay! – Company of Thieves is back and with the single, “Window.”

But wait, there’s more! Dance to the “Colors” of Dream Machines, “Trust” in Youngblood Hawke, the Aces are experiencing “Volcanic Love”, and leave it to SWIMM to bring some Kardashian to my playlist with “Kim K.”

So while Olympic fever continues on in Pyeong Chang for athletes from around the world (USA! USA!), dig into my updated Music On, World Off playlist, rewatch that clip of Mirai Nagasu repeatedly and express appropriate levels of awe because…triple axel, bitches.
