DMA’s & Dear Boy (The Echo)

In between Coachella festival weekends, Australia’s DMA’s (Tommy O’Dell, Johnny Took and Matt Mason) brought the bright, psychedelic-lite, somewhat Brit-pop/garage rock tunes from their debut album, Hill’s End, to the Echo. Breezing through their set with a casual ease and Aussie charm, with quite a number of fans in the room singing along with every song, DMA’s made the case for why they are high on the list of young bands to keep eyes on in 2016.

DEAR BOY

Local favorites, owners of our current Video Of The Week, and no strangers to the Echo, Dear Boy’s Ben Grey (vox, guitar), Keith Cooper (drums), Austin Hayman (guitar) and Nils Bue (bass) provided the evening’s direct and complementary support. Jangly guitar washed with reverb, driving percussion and Grey’s bittersweet romanticism all conspire to make their Brit-tinted indie rock shine.
