Because we’re tired of repeating ourselves…
Got a question for us? We may already have your answer below. Take a read through the following and if your question isn’t here, drop us a line at holla(at)iamhighvoltage(dot)com – thanks!
Q: I have a question.
A: … OK?
Q: How often do the print issues of High Voltage come out?
A: Our print issues are currently on an indefinite hiatus.
Q: Do you only make four issues every year?
A: When we used to publish a print publication, we printed five things each year. Four issues of the magazine and one special mini-issue that served as a SXSW pocket guide.
Q: Where can I subscribe?
A: While the print publication remains on indefinite hiatus, there’s no way to subscribe.
Q: What if I don’t live in the USA?
A: Our digital publication is available to any citizen of Planet Earth.
Q: I want to purchase an issue that’s already come out.
A: Great! As long as we have stock left, you can purchase previous issues by clicking HERE.
Q: Can my band be featured in the next issue?
A: Maybe.
Q: Should I email you everyday about it?
A: No.
Q: Once a week?
A: No.
Q: You’ve never heard of us and we’ve only ever played in our garage in (insert your town here), can we be on the next cover?
A: No.
Q: Should we send you an email that contains every MP3 we’ve ever made plus multiple high-resolution photos about it?
A: Absolutely not. Please don’t fill up our inbox.
Q: How about a few MP3s and one high-resolution photo?
A: No. Send only a link to streaming music (like your website or a social media link) and if we decide to write about your band, we will request the higher resolution photo.
Q: Do you prefer physical CDs, digital copies or full album streams?
A: Physical CDs are always preferred. We like to see the full package (liner notes, artwork, etc).
Q: What about for books? Home video releases? Do you still prefer physical?
A: We always prefer a tangible good. We enjoy holding the actual product in our hands.
Q: Will you come out and review my band’s next show?
A: Maybe, if we like the music and aren’t previously engaged that evening.
Q: Should we follow-up with you about it everyday until the show?
A: No.
Q: Should we spam your Facebook page regularly about it?
A: No.
Q: What about constant tweets?
A: Again, no.
Q: So, just contact you once about it and you’ll reach out if interested and available?
A: Yes.
Q: What about contacting you to review our album?
A: The same rule as above applies.
Q: What about contacting you to review a movie, TV shows, book, or game?
A: The same rules as above applies.
Q: Video?
A: We don’t review videos. However, we do feature one video every week. Want us to consider yours? Email, tweet or Facebook us a link. It must be a NEW video for us to feature it (within one week of release).
Q: EP?
A: We rarely review EPs.
Q: Single?
A: We don’t review singles.
Q: Do you cover all types of music?
A: Yes. Even if the current issue/reviews don’t reflect it at the time.
