Black Pistol Fire & Thunderpussy Bring The Heat To The El Rey

If there’s one thing that was on full display at the El Rey on Wednesday night, it’s that rock and roll is a woman’s and a man’s game. And the game was well-played because, as tour pairings go, the in-your-face raucous garage noise of Black Pistol Fire with the sensuous 70s-flavored rock and roll flair of Thunderpussy is all the irrefutable proof that any doubter may have.

As the fiery duo Black Pistol Fire, Kevin McKeown (vox/guitar) and Eric Owen (drums) are the stuff of highly concentrated, bluesy and raw rock fury and are consistently one of the best live shows to witness.

As for Thunderpussy, show openers, frontwoman Molly Sides, Whitney Petty (guitar), Leah Julius (bass) and Ruby Dunphy (drummer) provided a leather and sequined adorned spectacle part rock show, part performance art, and all badass.
