From Friday, February 2nd to Sunday, February 4th, Girlschool LA was in full swing at Bootleg Theater: that fantastic, community-oriented event bringing together female and female-identifying artists from all walks of life and putting them in the spotlight. The Bootleg Theater was bustling with activity from hundreds of concert goers, walking around checking out art from a variety of female artists and merchants. Music started around 7 pm each night and every night was an absolute waking dream of female rockers, rappers, and pop artists belting out lyrics and giving the audience performances that they will not soon forget. What seemed to be the highlight of the entire event for many, was Shirley Manson and surprise guest, Fiona Apple, performing on the main stage.

The energy in the tightly packed room was electric, flowing from the stage in waves as there was something in the air about that moment. It was palpable: it felt as though every person in that room that night took home a tangible memory. Among the other nights, some crowd favorites were Moon Honey, Lauren Ruth Ward, A.W., and Boyfriend.

All Angelenos should consider themselves lucky that such an event like GIRLSCHOOL exists to inspire and bring a loving and caring community together.
