It takes a real man to A) pull off white pants, and B) levitate. Con Brio’s front man Ziek McCarter lives up to such criteria and then some. At the Ocean Mist, the venue teetering on the edge of the ocean in Rhode Island, Con Brio maybe took a couple of days off of the enviable drop-into-the-ocean clock (as beach erosion plagues that area) as the club thumped up and down to the sweet soul tunes, yet I was completely convinced we were going to be swimming home as they were joined on stage by their tour buddies The London Souls for a few songs. Their rendition of Sam Cooke’s “Bring It On Home To Me” was as soft, sweet and refreshing as the gentle, cool waves hitting the beach outside.
