The Who: JMSN (Los Angeles, CA via Detroit, MI)
The What: Music videos tend to tell a tale, regardless of whether that tale is direct and in your face or as abstract a mindfuck as calculus.
Cue Christian Berishaj aka JMSN (just like the scorchingly smooth whisky) flexing his imagery imagination all over his video for “Slide” – just one of the deep blue soulful songs on his latest album, Whatever Makes U Happy, and one with a delicious current of Country running through it that flows into the video in all of its sexy, chaotic, comical, cult-classic, abstract glory.
“I like to leave things open for interpretation on a lot of my videos,” explains JMSN. “This video is no different in that sense. The more intense drama, the better. I take myself so seriously it may be considered to some as funny, but I’m deadass. But of course, there’s a comedic touch to everything I do. Humans taking themselves seriously is funny to me. I like ‘bootleg,’ very personal stuff with character and real emotions. That way there’s a space for humor. Maybe something you didn’t think is funny becomes funny. The video was inspired by the movie Natural Born Killers. Woody Harrelson is one of my favorite actors and this movie is amazing in so many aspects. So, I wanted to channel that for this video – not make the same exact thing but a version of it.”
Whatever makes u happy, indeed, JMSN. We’re into it.
