The Who: Highly Suspect (Cape Cod, MA/Brooklyn, NY)
The What: If there is one thing that has always been reflected in the music that Johnny Stevens, Rich Meyer and Ryan Meyer rock out, it is conscious thought; just one of the reasons why they are one of High Voltage’s favorite On The Rise artists. And that not so simple aspect is what you will find in Highly Suspect’s brand new video for their latest single, “Little One” (directed by DJay Brawner) from their dynamic sophomore album, The Boy Who Died Wolf. As for the conscious thought behind the video’s concept that finds frontman Stevens as a store clerk near his breaking point, Stevens says:
“‘Little One’ is about love slipping through the cracks. It’s the feeling you have when you know you just lost your lover, you’re right hand, your best friend.
Our videos try to capture emotion. Standing in an empty room pretending to play instruments is something you’ll never see us do.
I grew up watching real music videos. Stories. ‘Thriller’ comes to mind. You already know we’re a band. Why do you need to see a guitar? As artists, we need to continue making art in all aspects. The actual ‘Little One’ in this video is played by the real life woman the song was written about, Madison Parker…and that was the last time I saw her. The irony here, is that the band pulls me away from love. It’s very true to life.”
Sidebar: Is it just us or do Rich and Ryan make pretty hot police officers?
The Where: Currently you’ll find Highly Suspect out on the road on a sold-out U.S. headlining tour followed up by a number of festival dates. So keep up with Johnny, Rich and Ryan via their official website, Facebook page and at @Highly_Suspect on Twitter.
