Biffy Clyro (Irving Plaza, NY)

Irving Plaza | New York, NY | April, 13 2017 | Words & Photos: Cortney Armitage

It’s been a minute since their last appearance in the Big Apple (2013) and it’s been a long time coming, but the three half naked Scotsmen that are Biffy Clyro returned to sell out New York City’s Irving Plaza and rock beautifully, devastatingly hard. Well done men, your mission is fucking accomplished. The monster 19-song set list left 1,025 plus people with their hair blown back and fists pumping in the air. Simon Neil (guitar/vox) couldn’t help but flash his completely charming smiles between the head banging and thrashing, but James Johnston (bass) and Ben Johnston (drums) never seemed to break their onstage rock star characters (which were equally sexy.)

Once you know that this musical juggernaut called Biffy Clyro exists, you are forever changed and realize it’s something you just can’t live without. So Simon, Ben, John please don’t wait so long to come back to New York City. Wait? What’s that, you say? You’ll be back on May 9th at the Warsaw in Brooklyn?

Mon The Biff.
