If John Mayer, Hozier and Mick Jagger had a baby, it would be Cobi. He plays the guitar like Mayer, has a voice reminiscent of Hozier, and his lanky body with fabulous hair has the silhouette of that Rolling Stone. I don’t think anyone who showed up to the Highline Ballroom was truly prepared for what happened on stage when he performed: His soulful voice was pitch perfect, and the ease with which he rolled through the powerful guitar licks, pulling faces and working each part of the stage, were that of a seasoned guitar man. He’s a true cosmopolitan, which is not just a place in Vegas: Cobi reminded us that it is someone who feels at home anywhere, but after launching into “Cosmopolitan Man” he may have earned a room key or two.
