Summer Is Coming: Luxley

LuxleyIn two weekends time utterances of the signature phrase, “Winter is coming” will sharply cease leaving Game of Thrones fans emotionally bereft…that is, until the series returns next spring. Until then, summer is coming. Fortunately, Luxley is here to help get you through.

Straight out of New Orleans and with a mind fascinated by science, art and geometry, Ryan Gray (aka Luxley) has been honing the edges of his music craft which he calls wildfire dance rock. The end result are kinetically charged, funky, your-body-parts-will-move songs like “Tremors” along with “Camera Lens” and “Dance Baby,” both of which have received remix treatment from Magic Man and X Ambassadors, respectively. Luxley also puts that mind to additional creative use being something of a mixologist with a taste for concocting crafty beverages and here’s the point where music and mixology collide as he whipped us up a summer Spotify playlist fit for one of his specialty craft cocktails: The Safari.

The Safari

Buffalo Trace French Oak Barrel Head Aged, Grapefruit, Honey Syrup

“A bold whiskey cocktail with notes of creamy vanilla, subtle tropical fruit, and light tobacco from the aged Buffalo Trace. Grapefruit and honey syrup have been added for a summery touch.  Adventurous at-heart, the Buffalo Trace in this cocktail can actually be taken alone on the rocks or straight-up. With the addition of grapefruit honey, this would be my drink of choice while howling anthems or belting sappy-pop songs with all the safari animals.”
