Leave it to Nashville’s Judah & the Lion to bring the party – as well as the funk, the folk, the rock n roll, the hip hop and the banjos – for a throw down in Los Angeles. It may have been just another stop on their Folk Hop n’ Roll Tour, but to the enthusiastic crowd in the room, it was nothing short of a pretty badass display of a joyful genre mashup which included a snippet of the KISS classic, “Rock And Roll All Nite” (with frontman Judah Akers sporting a KISS tshirt, of course) and a momentary segue into T-Pain while the band, collectively, shook what their mamas gave them like professionals.
THE SAINT JOHNS
Americana duo and fellow Nashville residents Louis Johnson and Jordan Meredith are The Saint Johns. On the road with Judah & the Lion and supporting their freshly released album, Dead of Night, Johnson and Meredith provided some charming harmonies and melodies (along with a yearning cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Rhiannon”) to get the evening off to a fine start.
