The Who: Duran Duran w/ Eagles of Death Metal
The What: When an English 80’s synthpop/new wave band and a contemporary boogie rock band of the feel good-kind collide. We all know why we’re here: the horrific night of November 13th in Paris, France at Le Bataclan and what took place while Los Angeles desert rock band Eagles of Death Metal were on stage and all that unfolded afterwards resulting in over 120 casualties and hundreds of injuries. Most of us have always considered music and places where music happens as safe spaces; places where nothing from the outside world interferes: but interfere, it did. But back in October the fascinating and wonderfully odd musical coupling of Duran Duran and Eagles of Death Metal occurred on UK entertainment show TFI Friday as they performed Duran Duran staple, “Save A Prayer.” As appropriate as that sentiment and song are now, we share that performance as our Video of the Week. In the words of Eagles of Death Metal: PEACE, LOVE, DEATH METAL. But mainly love.
Duran Duran will donate all of the publishing proceeds from the sale of Eagles of Death Metal’s version of “Save a Prayer” to a charity to aid the people of France which you can download HERE.
