“Dearly Departed” By Shakey Graves (ft. Esmé Patterson)

The Who: Shakey Graves (Austin, TX)

The What:  So what does a break up look/sound like to Austin, Tx’s Alejandro Rose-Garcia aka Shakey Graves? Apparently a little on the ghoulish side (almost Beetlejuice-esque) with healthy – no – unhealthy moments of comedic and comically self-destructive yet cathartic behavior. The track is from his latest record, And the War Came, and with a little co-vocal interplay from pal Esmé Patterson, “Dearly Departed” is as uniquely brilliant as Graves is a true folk and blues music gentleman. As well as an uncompromisingly talented one. Still, we’re curious if this is what fellow Austin-ites, Spoon, had in mind when they wrote “The Ghost of You Lingers.”
