Jillian Michaels | Maximize Your Life | Saban Theatre (Los Angeles, CA) | May 17, 2014 |
Jillian Michaels is best known for her work as a badass bitch, aka personal trainer, on TV show The Biggest Loser. From her fitness success, she has authored several books, released over 15 workout DVDs and has now added motivational speaker to her roster. Tonight’s talk was the final stop of her almost two year tour, Maximize Your Life, which she decided to end in her hometown of Los Angeles, CA.
The night began with a montage of thought provoking pictures of pills, the modern industrialization of society and of course images of severely overweight individuals. The video suddenly came to a stop with a picture of a sunrise and a flurry of graphics most would consider joyful: children smiling, a couple embracing, a girl frolicking along a beach, etc. Then Jillian Michaels entered. In her introduction, she admitted that a lot of the information she will be sharing will not be new, but that perhaps she can still help to educate the general audience to be aware of the decisions they make. Ultimately she states, “Destiny is a matter of choice, not chance.”
Jillian covered three topics: Science (how one should eat), Sweat (how one can maximize their workouts) and Self (how one needs to focus on the “why” to control their own destiny). She included real life examples to drive her points home while adding comedic humor to her lecture to liven up the discussion. Jillian pulled volunteers from the audience to help maintain the energy of the show and keep the audience engaged. Lastly, the show finished with questions from the audience (in the lobby you had the opportunity to submit your question for review and a handful were selected). While none of the information she shared was new, Jillian has mastered the ability to relate to people. She’s had her own rock bottom moments, so she can effectively motivate and educate people on how to make the most of their own lives. Although the Maximize Your Life tour has come to an end, there are sure to be new motivational tours on the horizon for Jillian – so stay tuned!
