EXCLUSIVE: The Postal Service’s “audition video”

It’s like the 10th anniversary of an Academy Award winning, live changing film when you find out who auditioned for but didn’t get or even turned down that pivotal starring roll. Son of a bitch.

Cue the Postal Service who are in the throes of kissing themselves on the mouth (repeatedly) in celebration of their debut album Give Up, now 10 years old. Happy birthday, baby. But this may come off as a bit tarnished as we see (via newly discovered 2002 band audition footage thanks to Funny or Die) what potential awesome could have been in the Postal Service’s future, blithely discarded by Sub Pop A&R.  Jimmy Tamborello  looks like he’d rather be shopping for a new sampler.

From Aimee Mann to Weird Al, Duff McKagan to Moby, Tom DeLonge to that dude in pajamas…guess we’ll always wonder “what if.”

Ben Gibbard & company have their summer tour all lined up with Coachella, Sasquatch Festival, U.S. and Europe dates in the mix. Check out the scheduled tour dates right HERE and get some.
